...BUT Prof Berrick proved a lemma in the most beautiful, cute, sexy and charming manner.

The lemma is :

Every submodule of a finitely generated module is always contained in a maximal submodule.

Aaahh....can't stand it. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes...
